Phillip Fontenot and I have been friends since our youth. We grew up less than 100 meters from each other and were childhood playmates. We shared everything that young men have to learn in order to move to adulthood.
He is pictured here with his nephews. I new their parents Lovenia and Calvin from my days of growing up in De Quincy, La. Phillip and I have always been close friends.

Many bikers attended this outing today,this motorcycle club traveled from the River Parishes near New Orleans to Moreauville,La. to attend this celebration. Their vehicle of travel is the Honda Goldwing.

Families come together during the wonderful weather at winters end. It is nearing springtime, families love to gather for cookouts and socializing.

The lagoon at City Park is an active habitat for birds indigenous to the region surrounding NOLA. It also provides many educational opportunites for the youth of the city to engage in the study of this type wildlife. The city is fortunate to have it's natural habitats and human interaction co-exist for the betterment of both worlds.

This is the kiddie playground area. Large numbers of NOLA families bring their small children to this area for much needed excercise and physical activities.

Motorcycle clubs are also present at the pavillion. Large numbers of cyclists,arrive during beautiful weather in New Orleans.

Motorists line the streets, next to the tennis oourts and pavillion,looking for the perfect parking spot. The park had thousands of families present today,parking space is scarce near the attractions.

On this date,03/07/2010,the local population encounter the first signs of Spring. The Winter has been very harsh on NOLA culture this season. The first opportunity for families to go out were prompted by the lovely spring-like weather,today.

Early Fans On Super Bowl Sunday


On game day, this facility is usually brimming with fans as early as 5:00 AM. Today, the New Orleans Saints are in Miami to become NFL Champions. Their stadium is empty and there is no tailgating near the dome today. All of the fans are in the French Quarter assembling for the greatest party this city has ever known.
Throughout the city, fans are preparing their celebrations at home and also in the tourist districts of New Orleans. As vacant as it appears near the dome, the Quarter is alive with a spirit unlike any I've ever witnessed.

The Double Tree Hotel on Canal is very popular. It is also gear central for those fans that will arrive without New Orleans Saints Super Bowl gear. For a fair price, everything needed for the game came be purchased here.

Mother's Restaurant is a popular eatery at the end of Poydras Street that is a favorite of fans on game day. It's more important to remember the game is being played in Miami, but , the fans have travelled to New Orleans where the party is more fun. The lines outside the door, signify the capacity at 10:00 AM on Super Bowl Sunday.

The hotels carry a heavy reservations list during carnival. This day has placed a heavier burden, because, this is Super Bowl Sunday and Saints fans are travelling to New Orleans for the game that is being played in Miami. Saints fans have always known the best place to celebrate anything is New Orleans. The early reports from Miami indicate a less than Saints desirable atmosphere based on restrictions for partying. The Who Dat Nation decided there is no reason to party in Miami, simply party in New Orleans and await the teams return.
The fans have been partying in this city since the first playoff victory and have continued through the Super Bowl. Unfortunately, for many Saints fans there are no hotel vacancies as witnessed by the luggage being dragged down Canal Street. Additionally, luggage is stacked up in front of the Marriot for folks trying to get in with reservations.
It's unusual for a team competing in another city to have their fans gather in their home city for celebrations, however, the loyalty for this team transcends all others.

There will be many impromptu parties during this day. The best way to get in on the party is to have access to one of the established venues for Super Bowl Tailgating. the Marriot Hotel on Canal St. is the place to be during the Super Bowl. The hotel has set up a party area the entrance of their hotel parking lot for anyone willing to attend. It's always a blast at this location.

Bourbon Street is beginning to fill early morning. Those that arrive early will be guaranteed seating in the public establishments for the game. Otherwise, they will stand outside and the party rolls on.

Although this is Super Bowl Sunday, fans of the New Orleans Saints attend the games and it's celebration in a carnival atmosphere. Of course, the Super Bowl occurred during Carnival this year, however, Saints fans attend in carnival attire during the regular season.

This particular morning has created early arrivals for the restaurants as these fans have travelled from many different parts of our country. It's tough finding a vacant restaurant at 10:00 today, so, these fans will wait many hours prior to entering for a meal and possibly the chance to see the game on public screens.

The buggy rides are available as a regular tourist attraction on a daily basis. As this is Super Bowl Sunday morning, New Orleans fans are moving early and so are the tourists that have arrived as fans of the Saints.

They are searching for a bar that will accommodate them on this day. The Saints are in Miami preparing to play the Colts. Their fans are in New Orleans looking for a party or anywhere that will accommodate one. It's 10:00 AM in New Orleans, the game begins at 5:20 PM.
